THE PROBLEM
Many students face difficulties in learning English, particularly in speaking ability.
In a preliminary research, 74.9% of students scored below 71, indicating a lack of minimum mastery.
THE SOLUTION
To address this problem, the Chain Drill technique was applied.
This technique involves asking and answering questions and repeating part of the previous student's answer to provide information about the proposed situation.
THE RESEARCH
A quasi-experimental research methodology was used to investigate the influence of using the Chain Drill technique on students' speaking ability.
The research was conducted with the eighth grade of SMP
THE RESULTS
The research findings showed a significant improvement in students' speaking ability after implementing the Chain Drill technique.
The average post-test scores were higher than the pre-test scores, indicating the effectiveness of the technique.
OTHER STUDIES
Several other studies have also explored the effectiveness of drill techniques in improving speaking skills.
These studies have shown positive results, with significant improvements in students' speaking abilities.
CONCLUSION
Using the Chain Drill technique can significantly enhance students' speaking ability.
It provides a structured and interactive approach to language learning, allowing students to practice and improve their speaking
